Chantel Sutherland is a retired Canadian jockey who was born on February 23, 1976, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She started riding horses at an early age and began her jockey career at age 16. She quickly gained recognition for her skill, winning her first professional race at age 18.
During her career, Sutherland rode in over 1,200 races and won over 130 races. She is best known for her time in California, where she rode in prestigious races such as the Breeders' Cup, and was the first female jockey to win the Santa Anita Handicap in 2011.
Sutherland retired from racing in 2014 and has since pursued a career as a television personality, appearing as a racing analyst for various networks. She also serves as an ambassador for several equine and charitable organizations.
